omg, nyc

Jan 20

Man, I’m so glad I took advantage of the long weekend. Mine included Tuesday as well, since that’s how we roll in nursing school.

On Friday, I went to this bizarre party in the basement of a clothing store in SoHo, where apparently the Beastie Boys and Chaka Khan used to hang out. OK, pretty cool. Manlexis and I ran around with his big fancy camera, taking pictures of the crazy people, which was very entertaining. The walls were covered with pretty awesome graffiti too.

Saturday morning (OK, more like 12:30pm), I met Demelza and Ben for brunch at The Lovin’ Cup in Williamsburg. It was a beautiful sunny day, so we sat in the window drinking our bloody marys, and talking about astrology. We walked down to the water, visited some shops, went to a movie, didn’t think about school. Demelza also found a whale in her beer that evening, pictured above.

Sunday and Monday held more dreary weather, so I laid low and studied some. I also got peer pressured into watching the first two episodes of Jersey Shore with my roommates. I…can’t believe these people exist.

Tuesday evening, I went back down to SoHo with a few of my classmates. We tried another Mexican restaurant, Papatzul, which was delightful. I got carnitas tacos and a margarita. Maybe I’ve gotten too far from California Mexican food, but these tacos were pretty good. Carnitas, pico de gallo, cilantro, lime juice: yum.

Seriously y’all, what is UP with this weather? I have to say, I’m a little disappointed that I got all ready for hella snow, and the universe did not deliver. However, even though it’s been in the mid-40’s lately, I’ve still totally been wearing the sleeping bag coat over my uniform to the hospital in the morning. At 7am, I really want my clothes to feel as close to a bed as possible.
